Motion practice is underrated. In particular, my practice is made up of a small number of high value cases that tend to end up before the assigned judges on a relatively regular basis. Issues are often hotly contested and each hearing is like a small skirmish or battle in a larger fight for control of the resolution of the case (whether by settlement or verdict). Being in front of Broward County Judge Patti Englander Henning is a pleasure because her complex docket is like my case list. Fewer numbers allow her to take more time and to treat the lawyers with respect and deliberation. It’s like the old days.
